My account director and I headed up to the Manchester Office of the What If! Innovation Agency last week for a product development ideas session. The thing I liked about it is the ‘anything goes’ attitude to ideas, even the most superficially ridiculous things were given consideration, to see if anything constructive could be taken from them. It’s not the route you take, it’s where you arrive.

So yeah, there was a lot of pretentious jargon, like greenhousing ideas (nurturing them and letting them grow), or capturing them (writing the essence of the idea down), and some pretty embarassing energisers (I’m not writing any detail down), but the session was generally positive and a decent enough starter for ten.
